After the Tsunami in March 2011 that devastated the northeastern coast of Japan everything was destroyed on the coast. Oyster companies , port facilities , research laboratories were gone. Even Pacific salmon could no longer find their home rivers . Patiently, with perseverance, but also with skill , Japanese scientists and professionals fishers and fish farmers with prefectural government improved the situation. Now, oysters and shells are beautiful and tasty, oyster farms produce , fishing vessels are afloat, salmon return in their home rivers and hatcheries. Both SFJO also participated with their modest means to help this recovery which was hailed by Japanese professionals met.
