Exchanges between fishers, oyster farmers and managers from France and Japan during the Coast Bordeaux Event
During the Coast Bordeaux 2017 event which also constituted the 17th Franco-Japanese Conference on Oceanography, part of the Japanese delegation met, the 3rd and 4th of November 2017, on the Arcachon and Marennes-Oléron basins and the fishing port of La Cotinière, representatives of oyster farming and regional fisheries, delegates of the Marine Natural Park of the Arcachon Basin and elected representatives including Mr. Didier Quentin, deputy of Charente Maritime and Mr. François Deluga, President of the Marine Natural Park of the Arcachon Basin. These exchanges made it possible to consolidate the links between French and Japanese actors and to strengthen future cooperation projects on the theme “Nature and Culture”.
On the 5th of November, an excursion on the Gironde organized by “Terre et Océan” with the participation of Professor Gilles Bœuf, president of the Scientific Council of the French Biodiversity Agency, allowed the Japanese delegation to better understand the envrionmental problems encountered on one of the largest estuaries in Europe.
