Delivery of a commemorative medal for the 60th anniversary of the SFJO of Japan

On October 20, 2021, Dr. Yves Hénocque, Vice-president of the SFJO France, awarded, at the Maison Franco-Japonaise,  on behalf of the SFJO France, a commemorative medal for the 60th anniversary of the SFJO Japan to its President Professor Teruhisa Komatsu.

This bronze medal created by a master engraver – medal maker, Meilleur Ouvrier de France – Mr Nicolas Salagnac represents on one side:

The great wave of Kanagawa (1831) by Katsushika Hokusai with a boat slamming into waves and at the bottom the Mount Fuji

on the other side:

Two emblematic monuments of France and Japan: The abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel whose church culminates at 157 m above the shore and the great Torii of Miyajima built more than 1400 years ago whose height is 16 meters for a weight of 60 tons. These two representations surround the date of the foundation of SFJO Japan and the year of its 60th anniversary. The two acronyms of the two sister scientific societies complete the back side of this medal.
