Professor Jean-Claude Dauvin, treasurer and administrator of the SFJO, appointed Officier du Mérite Maritime.

On April 4, 2025, Professor Jean-Claude Dauvin, trustee and treasurer of SFJO France, was awarded the rank of Officier du Mérite Maritime by Mr. Stéphane Bredin, Prefect of Calvados, in the salons of the Prefecture.

This distinction honors a scientist who is dedicated to the sea and those who live by it. A tireless advocate of coastal protection and a specialist in marine ecology. He is also Chairman of the Scientific Board of Façade Manche-Est – Mer du Nord and of the Scientific Board of GIS ECUME, concerned with the impacts of Cumulative Effects at Sea. Within the M2C Laboratory of the University of Caen, he was the driving force behind the last Franco-Japanese Oceanography Symposium, which took place in 2023 at the University of Caen-Normandie.
