Kojiro Shiraishi at the start of the Vendée Globe Challenge in collaboration with JAMSTEC

Kojiro Shiraishi, a Japanese skipper, will take part for the second time in the Vendée Globe Challenge, the biggest single-handed race in the world. During his trip, he will collect for JAMSTEC (Japan Agency For Marine-Earth Science and Technology) water samples to study the concentration and diversity of microplastics in areas where JAMSTEC does not use to go. A fine example of collaboration between science and high-performance sport to “Act for a clean ocean and a better environment for all”. SFJO wishes Kojiro Shiraishi and JAMSTEC good luck.
