Reaction of the French National Committee of Shellfish aquaculture to the death of Kunio Goto

” It is with great sadness that we have learned the death of Dr. Kunio Goto.

French oyster farmers are aware of what they owe to this great specialist in Japanese oyster farming. Indeed, after the disastrous wave of mortality that led to the disappearance of the Crassostrea angulata, in the early seventies, it was operation RESUR, of which Mr Kunio Goto was one of the main players, which enabled, from the introduction of the japanese oyster (Crassostrea gigas), the rebound of French oyster farming at the first place it occupies today in Europe.

On behalf of the whole of the French shellfish industry, I offer my sincere condolences to his family and my deepest thanks for the work of this great gentleman. »
